Bullbuster,

that's exactly the kind of fishing I'm talking about...

Do you let the bread float or do you weight it down a little bit?

Most people around here won't allow fishing on their property any more. I use to fish all the creeks around here 40 years ago but, after moving away for a few years and then moving back, everything has changed....

We take a small treble hook and tie it right on the main line and add a bobber above that. If chumming is allowed in your area buy the cheapist puppy dog food you can find we use dog food the size of rabbit scat. If the water is static just toss it out. If you got a current toss it out up current of were you wanna fish. It brings them in and holds them every time. Even got some 10 pound cats in the mix.

So what your saying is Craig has broken that record several times with his carp catches provided the ones he got are the common carp and not another kind of carp. Will have to tell him to look into the record thing and the kind of carp he catches.

thats what it looks like. It has to be a certified scale with an employee of the ODW as a witness.
The pic I saw is a common carp.

I was browsing the records after finding a regular poster on here that currently owns a state record, and saw the carp listing.

The carp in the pic is a grass carp. Look at the forward facing mouth. The common carp has a mouth that is more of a sucker facing down.
When I was 14, I caught a 47" 63lb common carp at Texoma on a rod and reel. Never thought to have it documented. I kept it in a fish basket for a couple hours to show the family then let it go.

Well, since first posting here concerning carp fishing, my wife and I have been 7 times so far and we are seeing lot's of carp but, not able to catch a single one!!!

We have used several different dough baits, bread, corn, etc. but, they won't bite for anything. Any suggestions or ideas that we could try next???
