The .223 is great for pig hunting. I use an M4 and Barnes 64gr Vortex (great on deer too), but before discovering them, I used 55gr FMJ. Pigs are not that hard to kill, as mentioned above; BUT they are tough skinned. Stay away from the hollow points and soft points and DEFINITELY varmit bullets. Penetration is what is needed. Ear shots are best, followed by just behind the shoulder.
