This thread might very well the oldest on osa. 2007 date of start. Glad everyone is still taking there rights as we have them.
Mines been at the sheriffs office for over 3 weeks....
you need to call them, and find out why, they only have 14 days.
"Upon verification of the identity of the applicant, the sheriff shall take two complete sets of fingerprints of
the applicant. Both sets of fingerprints shall be submitted by the sheriff with the completed application,
certificate of training or an exemption certificate, photographs and processing fee to the Oklahoma State
Bureau of Investigation within fourteen (14) days of taking the fingerprints."
After I took the training class I called the Sheriffs office to get my fingerprints taken. I had to make an appointment and that was a 3 1/2 week wait....
When I got my fingerprints done, the Sheriffs office told me the background checks were taking up to a month and my credit card has not been billed yet by the OSBI. That was over 3 weeks ago.
The Muskogee Co. Sheriff's office has to use the digital print equipment down inside its county jail. For them to make the jail function safely its necessary for them to schedule their time to do fingerprints because a Detention Officer or Deputy must escort the applicant into the jail's innards to get the required prints done. Its just a necessary process to keep jail functions and security on track.
Other counties have a different process. The bigger counties have a print machine in their administrative offices building. Some counties can do prints 24/7 by appointment. All this varies by the individual county and its circumstances.
The SO has 14 days to do a local records check and forward that on to the OSBI, along with the prints and the balance of the Applicant Packet. The fact that your card hasn't been "hit" by OSBI doesn't necessarily mean they don't have your papers; they may well have not gotten that far along yet with your packet to collect payment. Never fear. They will get to it.
