Okay I admit I have never shot or purchased subsonic rounds. Saw a boat load of them in 22LR today and just wondered why someone would choose them. Is it for lower sound?

Because in a properly suppressed platform a mouse fart is louder than the shot.

Most precision .22lr ammo is also subsonic so they dont get smacked by the shockwave down range and throw off accuracy.
