Simply put, I'm against anything that puts the lives of military or innocent civilians at an unnecessary risk, regardless of the reasons why.

I'm not saying anyone has to agree, and many won't.

Nothing should be secret, we have a right to know any and everything that is happeneing behind their veil of "war" I guarantee there are documents in there that prove the CIA is responsible for the upswing in "terrorist" activity when we need it most, when the newscameras are rolling.

The Military is not what it used to be, they are not the good guys anymore.

There is no such thing as complete security. You can do your due diligence by making something very painful to get to or through but that is about it.

I don’t know how many times I see hardened double locked entry points with blast proof doors next to a fence that any ten year old could climb over or next to a tempered glass window specifically designed to enable cut free escape. I can’t be the only one who thinks the whole RFID badge, PIN code and retina scanner on the wall is just plain silly in retrospect.

We have spent insane amounts of money on the illusion of security but not the actual securing of our infrastructure.

From a data security perspective I have one word for you. “INDIA”

It is mind blowing to know how much of our U.S. based infrastructure is directly administered by offshored resources. If that isn’t scary enough for you; the Indian standard of living is raising so rapidly many companies are now turning to former Soviet breakaway nations for cheap I.T. labor.

I will never understand why we lock things down so tightly only to open the side door to some ******* third party contractor with no vested interest.

Our enemies of course “ALL” know that they need not actually breech anything. Instead we issue them H-1B visas every day so they can simply come in the front door with unfettered full administrative access to everything. Sadly, we as Americans have yet to figure out that we are the butt of the joke.

I do apologize for the rant.

Veggie, you are in to computers and you are asking this question?
Have you ever noticed web sites get attacked by hackers?
They can create denial of service, worms, viruses, a guy breaking equipment, who cares? There are so many ways.
The one thing that should have happened and didn't, was to treat this enemy just like every other enemy we face in Yemen, Pakistan, etc. We take them out. We do it every day. Sometimes we use a predator, a guided bomb, a single bullet.

is that why OSA was down for so long the other day?

I'm totally with EZB on this, the information classification system too often is used to cover up incompetence and political expediency. Look at the way the politicians that outed Valerie Plame skated - or the cover up of the way Pat Tillman died. Someone has to be held accountable, claims of a need for secrecy are too often used to prevent accountability.

I understand the damage they've done, but it seems like this damage is being played up for a lot more than it is by our Government and in a lot of cases, Wiki-Leaks has been doing plenty to keep the Government in check by exposing some of their scandals.

I'm all for keeping our nation's secrets secret when it comes to protecting our own, but our Government does a lot of damage to our men and women in combat that seems to be more and more difficult to get out in the open.

There are numerous stories where orders were given and good soldiers were left high and dry - there's way too much politics involved in making decisions now days rather than just good old soldiers who moved up the ranks and became real military leaders - that's never a good thing for our troops.

That's small potatoes, soap opera BS. When our foreign assets are tortured to death or an RPG takes out the whole family and the word gets out, that's the time when we find ourselves cut off from the world unable to prevent action against the US.
Choices have to be made. Do we want to be isolated with no one trusting us, or to be able to function as a nation.

Well stated, and I agree.
