Not in the summer but in the winter I am contemplating wearing a shoulder holster under my jacket and havent decided what to do if and when I take my jacket off- at someones home, in a restaurant, etc. In the winter my usual dress is my usual thermal shirts under short sleeve Ts and light Dickie work type jackets with maybe a hoody if its colder, instead of uncomfortable big coats. I learned to layer living in the mountains in northern California and after spending 2 winters in Iowa in their extremely cold weather. I found the holster I want already. It just looks so gangster with it on. If I can get past the self consciousnous of it all I may try it a few times.

I carry now and will continue to carry everywhere I go. However, I will not open carry. I do not want to draw attention to myself or possibly be a "target" while OC especially while with the family. I believe in being able to carry but believe more in being able to operate what you carry. I have seen concealed weapons classes and must say for the most part the training is minimal. With all of that being said remember to practice firearm safety, maintain awareness, and be able to react if the need arises. Carrying a firearm comes with great responsibility and there is more to it than wanting to look cool or boost your ego.

I've been pretty vocal lately about this, so why not chime in here. I'm an open carrier. I did it for 8 years before coming back to OK, and I've done it for the two days we've been able to. It's comfortable, plain and simple. I've got nothing to hide, but don't take that as I'm showing off. It's simply another tool that I may need some day, just like my pocket knife, flashlight, and leatherman. It's not a talisman like some might suggest. I don't think it will ward off evil. If someone's going to mess with me, they're going to do it regardless of whether or not I'm carrying. With that said, I could see an evil doer deterred by it more so than I could see them encouraged by it. I may go concealed from time to time, like in the winter when I wear a coat, but I just don't see the need. It's the same principal that is used by people who don't see the need to carry in the open.

After running a few errands this morning it's obvious that many businesses have opted to post, the CVS on 23rd & Meridian being the second place I went to this morning that was posted. Talked to the store manager for a few minutes letting her know it was a pity they felt that vetted law abiding citizens were a threat. I hadn't planned on OCing and all the gunbuster signage I spotted this morning has convinced me it's not worth doing other than in my own yard when puttering around.

Because in an URBAN enviorment that is the only reason people are doing it. You've hit the nail on the head.
