Would you refinish this or leave it be?

I'm trying to decide if I want to refinish this receiver or leave it alone. The wooden stock and foregrip could also be refreshed.

This is the worst side.

What product would you guys recommend to refinish? Should I strip the bluing off and just reblue? I have half a mind to just use something like alumahyde in flat black and refinish things with that.

I personally would not leave it as is, it’s not like anything you’d do would detract from the value. As to how I’d refinish I’d need to know what I’m looking at to be sure. Cold bluing large pieces doesn’t work very well nor is the finish durable.
I won this from an auction a while back and got a pretty good deal on it due to the condition and model. It's one of the Marlin 03030s with a push button safety that was sold in Coast-to-Coast stores years ago.

It almost looks like someone took a flathead screwdriver to it and scratched up or something. Here's a close up.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be

I am all about leaving patina but this is not patina this is a tragedy.

Cold blue has held up well for me.
I do sand and then thoroughly degrease and then apply the cold blue to some 0000 steel wool and use that steel wool to apply the blue to whatever I am blueing.

I let it dry and wipe it down and 0000 steel wool and more blueing.

One thing for sure is you are not going to hurt that things value.
