"Manslaughter is far more likely to create debate in that jury room (there could also be even lesser crimes they consider, where they could find him guilty of something)."

Quoted from the post by n2sooners, the article appears to answer my question by mentioning that they could consider "lesser crimes" that were not specifically charged.

Of course it also mentions that while they wouldn't have to prove he acted with "depraved mind, hatred, malice, evil intent or ill will" like with the murder charge, they would still have to prove he didn't have any reason to fear he was going to suffer great bodily harm or death. So in order to get either charge they first have to prove he didn't act in self defense.

My opinion is not without sway in The People's Court. Like anyone I else, I like a good show.

I am content to let this drama unfold before millions of OSA viewers.

As you saw minutes ago, the Chief of Police was disenfranchised from the process early on, and this trial is the culmination of the State's manipulations.

And on the stand he said the complete opposite. He's a fibber.

His son is dead because he was a thuggish punk, that attacked an armed man, and he wants someone held responsible besides himself.

The sad fact is, his son is dead because his father didn't instill him with the tools to know right from wrong.
