I'm scared for you if you think there is a 383 Chevy Block.

No it isn't. The block has 350 mains and a 3.75" stroke crank in it right now.

They used 400 crank motors back in the day, the aftermarket has much more support for the 2.45" mains (350) and anyone building a stroker these days is going to be using a crank built for 350 mains and a 3.75" stroke. There are a lot more options doing it that way.

I know that but it was derived from 400 crank in 350.Now you can buy cranks made that way.Scat is probably the best known manufacturer of low cost stroker kits.Crank,rods, pistons,rings,bearings for less than $1000.My 331 Ford stroker is a Scat crank,Eagle rods,Probe pistons.

383 is a 350 block bored .60 over the stock bore not a 400 block a 400 ci engines crank is used and the longer stoke and bigger bore makes it 383 ci engine with out the crank from a 400 or a stroker crank it would just be a 350 with the over bore it would be like 355 or something close to that

yes you are right, but a 383 stroker was not a produced motor, you would have to build it yourself, I know cause I have a 383 stroker in my Camaro

No it's a 350,GM manufactured them until the LS series motors took over in the late 90's,400's were gone in the late 70's(or early 80's).There were no one piece main seal 400's.

The key word being "crate". I'm not aware that GM has actually installed a 383 in anything that come off of any of their production lines.

Also back in the day they used to offset grind the crank (mains) to change the stroke.
