Dude, that was a hell of a head shot:flamed: I'm impressed, they don't hold still for very long.
Never taken one with a rifle, and never wanted to as I figured it would mess up the breast.
They were just young birds. They knew something was up but I dove (literally) for cover before they spotted me. They all had their heads straight up trying to figure out what was going on, this was the unlucky one to be standing in the open.

I've killed more with a rifle than I have with a shotgun.

Custom Mosin (mauser style bolt conversion) Graf's Hornady 150gn .311 SST - punches fist-sized holes in critters.

Got out there 6:20 am and chill .... saw three does come out - I was ready to take a shot, but they spooked, so I decided to see what spooked them - and here he was! 2 points on one side - NO points on the other, THE MONSTER. He walks by me at 20 yards, gets spooked too. I see a doe run through the field. I figure there must be something else out there - sure enough the 11 point below strolls like he has places to be. 11 point is the new best for me - so I took him. While waiting for the buck to die - another young buck and a doe coming from a different direction - I guess gun shot didn't matter much to them. So I took the doe as well. Oh yeah, I'm out of the hunting gear by time we were taking pix.

8:00 am kill - VERY young 11-point, the rack is compact but massive

Nice buck! :thumbup3:I had deer in front of me this am when shooting was going on around me, and they never lifted their heads, so I'm with you on the gunshots not bothering them much.
