That's exactly what I was thinking there Doc. Seeing if anybody I know has one I can borrow, or I'll go buy one tomorrow.

264 I couldn't agree with you more. The only thing that will go on there is a bipod and I'm pretty sure that i can time it, drill and tap or bolt a sling stud for it.

Not to highjack, but I got to shoot mine tonight. Seemed to be grouping very well. Even though its a slimmer profile barrel and quite light, the recoil seemed less than a .223. I think I'm going to like this caliber.

Doc is that the one that I told you about from AR15.com? I was wondering how it would perform. I'm excited about this and it appears that I'm purchasing a strap wrench tomorrow to see if I can get it like I want. Appreciate the offer, but I don't think I'm driving to Prior!

Something else you can try with that hand guard is getting two pieces of steel bar that'll fit in the gas tube holes. Put them on opposite sides, stick a screw driver between them and wrench it on. It obviously won't be torqued correctly, but I bet it'll get it on tighter than a strap wrench. The first upper I ever built wasn't torqued at all and it was splendidly accurate.

As for a sling stud, I doubt the tube is think enough to get more than a couple threads in it from a tap. My hunting AR has a plain aluminum tube. I drilled a hole through it and stuck a stud in there with a nylock nut and washer on it. Works like a charm.

Yeah, it's the one off of AR15.
