Now that I think about it, hasn't the winner of each season so far been people who are just shooting hobbyists?

No SEALS or snipers or IDPA world champions or any other standout titles have won have they?

On another note another reason I like watching is because I pick up shooting tips. Like pinning the trigger back when shooting precision rifle, never heard that pointer before.

They are a little misleading on the show about the contestants pasts. Ian, winner of season 1, was an operative for ~Britan~ I believe. Winner of season 2, Chris I think his name is, was portrayed as just an outdoorsman, but he actually competed with compound bow and shotguns for years, and did pretty well at it. Heck, even Jay from last season was an avid archer. He competed at a very high level. Also, Jay was active in shooting competitions for several years. He just never "owned" a pistol, which is why they kept playing the whole "I just bought my first gun a year ago" bit.

None of the past winners were current "professional shooters". The one thing they have had in common was military experience. There are many people who discount military experience but in the military you dont get go "trick out" your weapons. You have the same trigger and sights as everyone and when you go to a different unit or different base you get a different weapon. The thing I have noticed so far is all the grandmasters and world champions tend to do poorly since they do not have the custom gun they are used to shooting.

I agree with you. I was just trying to tell a little more about the contestants than they tell you on the show. I believe you are dead on about the poor performance due to non-tricked out guns. If you get too used to a high performance rig, it's hard to go back to the basic setup. However, look at JJ from season 1. On of the top shooters in the world, and he made it far without his tricked out guns and shot very well with them.

Dustin killed it! Didnt know who to root for with Mike and Gary going against each other, was kinda leaning towards Mike, cuz I wanted to see if he would knock Jake out. I would really like to see Dustin finish well, and see what he does with it.

Yeah, it was tough deciding who to root for in the elimination. I rooted for Gary just because of how bad he struggled with the .50.

Bingo.

Plus all of the champion shooters they've had have been very one dimensional.

I have a feeling that would change of you had a Bennie Cooley or Jerry Miculek or Taran Butler on the show.

He was on there for the "exhabition/trick shooting" episode. It would be AWESOME to see him as a contestant! You know there'd be a target on his back the whole time though.
