Are you kidding, it didn't need fixing. Your "The underline in part A made it seem as if this was authorized by the SDA as opposed to the license be authorized." doesn't make sense.. section #6 is authorized by the SDA .. a license is not required.

A natural reading of the posted text was self explanatory as it came straight from the new law. All I did was 'highlight' that business owners, home owners and renters would be able to carry loaded handguns, rifles and shotguns on property they controlled... without the need of a permit... which should be of great interest to all business & home owners. You shouldn't be nitpicking people's posts.

No, section 6 is not authorized as part of the SDA. This part of the law is 1289.6 which does not fall under the SDA (1290.1 - 1290.25). 1289 says you can do all of these things listed below without a license from the SDA.

I wasn't trying to nitpick your post, but upon first reading, it seemed as if it was saying (because of the underline in part A) that these things were authorized by the SDA which they are not.

Tennesse passed its handgun permit law at about the same time as Oklahoma passed its concealed carry law. If anyone is interested, here is a link to Tennessee's statistics related to its handgun permit. On page #66 it shows that in 2011... 896 handgun permits were suspended and lists the reasons.. such as felony arrests and Orders of Protection.

Pg. 15 http://www.tn.gov/safety/stats/DL_Handgun/Handgun/HandgunReport2011Full.pdf

Tennessee's population is approx. 5,689,283. Out of 94,975 permits in use.. there were 896 suspensions last year.

Oklahoma's populationis approx. 3,751,351.

40 SDA Licenses were revoked in 2011. Only 2 of which were for Reckless
Conduct! And 2 for Domestic Violence. The rest were for other mandatory preclusions and irregularities.

145 SDA Licenses were suspended in 2011

Oklahoma's SDA statistics are more difficult to read through as posted because they are spread out over several pages and are not as detailed.

Anybody call the Governor's office this morning @ (405) 521-2342 to offer their support? After last night's News9 story I was wondering what the phone count was today, for or against. Even though Governor Fallin stated she would sign the bill, I am nervous if her office gets flooded with negative calls she might waffle and cave in with something like --She supports responsible legislation but this bill isn't it.

The main purpose of the CWL is to allow citizens, properly licensed, to carry a gun on property that they don't control. You could always carry a gun at home.

We should all remember that Oklahoma is not the first state to allow open carry. Oklahoma is one of the last eight states to allow some form of open carry. So the impact of allowing open carry is well known, and the impact is negligible. It is a non event in states which allow open carry. Why should it be any different here.

The anti gun crowd and the fraidy cat politicians like to say that blood will run in the streets and folks will die. Some law enforcement officials, for their own reasons, will whine, but it will become law and they will have to deal with it.

Just remember that it is up to us to protect ourselves and our loved ones. As a Dallas PD officer, I always got to the scene after the action was over and someone was lying on the floor dead. No matter how diligently law enforcement performs their duties, they are always there after the deed is done. Some law enforcement officials fail to recognize that fact.

The ability to carry a handgun and protect ourselves and our loved ones has reduced violent crime in every state that has returned that Second Amendment right to the general public. Why won't blood run in the streets? Because only responsible citizens of Oklahoma go to the trouble and expense of getting a CWL and those folks act appropriately in the whole.

Finally, I take the Governor at her word and fully believe that she will sign the bill into law this week. I don't think she will veto it or even allow it to become law by just waiting for the five days to pass. I don't think she is waiting to hear from the anti gun crowd because she knows she will hear from them anyway. She stated she would sign an open carry bill before she became Governor and has said the same on other occasions. So just believe.

Negative. Case law in Oklahoma is that it can't cross the threshold of your doorway.

And if a good attorney wanted to stretch, he could apply "public" to you walking in front of a window with the interior of your home clearly visible from the street with a firearm.

I don't think I said in your yard, I said at home, which in my feeble mind means in your house.
