I suppose it was only a matter of time before the chest-beating began......

And we wonder why the anti's say pistols are compensatory tools for a small penis.:rolleyes2

If you really mean what you're saying, why do you need a couple hundred people to back you up?

Man up, go by yourself, and deal with the consequences.

Some people put a lot into getting open carry passed; it doesn't need to be undone by stupidity.

Michael Brown

Don't know where you got "chest beating" from what I wrote??

Didn't they teach you about strength in numbers in cop school?? Or, maybe you have single-handidly made the swat team obsolete, after all, you can just "man up" and take care of any situation, right??

Surely you aren't naive enough to believe one person would make a difference in the Midwest City situation?? Do you really think one person would make the point as well as a couple of hundred?? Not sure what consequences you are talking about, I would obey the law and show any officer my permit until they get tired of looking at it, there would be no "consequences" outside of them wasting my time and theirs. If a couple of hundred people showed up openly carrying at the same time, I think they might get the message, or at least be overwhelmed with numbers. If midwest city PD thinks they need to check every person who is openly carrying, why not give them lots of practice?? Nothing stupid about using their own foolishness against them.

What's stupid is for a police department to have a policy of checking out everyone that is carrying a firearm when it is legal to do so. Wouldn't that be a bit like stopping every black person walking through a white neighborhood??

But to make my above pose relevant, how many of you are going to open carry like ol' El Guapo just to flex your muscles (or dare I say, "nuts") a bit, when really it's not entirely practical to do so.

Forget the "wise" and "principle" part of the argument, let's just talk about practicality.

I could see my Government .45, or a full size .357 or a Glock 17, but I am not sure a 5 or 7" single action revolver is really a smart move. It's just impractical and unnecessary.
I for one will not. However I have no control what motives you or other might assign to my intent if I ever did decide to open carry.

I really don't have much constructive to add, but I totally just thought of this:

You've made my point right there.

If you are operating on a matter of principle, you wouldn't care what the consequences are.

I don't do my job in order to prove that I'm stronger or better; If I want to prove I'm stronger or better I get in the ring and man up. That said, if circumstances force me into unilateral action, I do so simply because I am adult enough to accept the consequences of my actions.

You on the other hand stated you were going to go somewhere and open carry just to piss someone off; But since you couldn't do it without a couple hundred people to back you up, it becomes clear that it is NOT a matter of principle for you but rather an opportunity to act like a tough guy with no consequences.

Actually, I think this answers everything. If you don't agree with the Constitution, it's no wonder you're willing to be a vassal of the state, with a duty to prove your innocence on demand of your masters.

No, that answers nothing. I PERSONALLY feel that having a lisence to carry is just like having a lisence to drive. I have done my due dilligance to show this state that I am more than capable of carrying a firearm. Are all CCW holders compitent with there firearm, NO. Are all drivers compitent behind the wheel, NO. But they have passed the requirement to do so. I like that you can carry a gun if you are not a prior felon or found mentally unstable. Constitutional carry would not prevent this and I would be a little more suspisious of those carrying. An armed society is a polite society. But if you watch youtube, there are a lot OC videos of D-bags that are not polite and want to show just how big there "I know my rights" balls are. The polite thing to do would be to just show ID. IMO

IF and I say IF, an officer of any municipality feels I am threat in a car, then yes they should pull me over and verify my right to drive(lisence and Insurance) and that I am in the right state to drive. A person with a gun is considered a threat until I or anyone else can prove otherwise. Will I feel comfortable with others around open carrying? Yes, but I will base that comfort level on the holster and type of firearm they are carrying....Hi-point in an uncle mikes, you are careless and I am leaving......Anything else in a well made holster for said firearm properly secured to the belt, carry on.....Glock, I've got my eye on you(JK)....XD, I'm fine if no vacuums and coffee tables are present(newbies won't get it). Yes, there will be profiling. Is it right? NO

Just like when I am driving I make sure to know where everyone else is at around me that is driving a object just as capable of taking a life as a gun is. Maintaining distance from the idiots putting on makeup, texting, or otherwise not doing a very good job of controlling their vehicle. Same applies at a gun range. Again, JMO

But I wanted to carry one of these!!! Technically, it's a pistol......

"Your point" is only made in YOUR MIND!

I guess you think Martin Luther King would have accomplished the same thing if he walked across the Selma bridge alone??

I could certainly go to Midwest City and carry openly on my own, without consequence, but the point is better made when a group does it.

The only one with a "tough guy" mentality here is YOU!!

By the way, I've read the story and I've read your posts and seen how you operate here, you aren't David!!
