What's the big deal? Ever put mare's milk in your coffee? Used too, back in my younger days. That and banamine when we were hung over. I have had enough of Bobbie Burbridge Lane telling me it is evil! If people knew how much the BLM spent on keeping those genetic rejects alive, they would crap. And when the economy goes south, you never knew when a stray was going to be dumped in your front yard.
There are folks right here in Ok that are making small fortunes baby sitting herds of horses that came from the BLM program.
They're trying to raise the numbers so we can have a season on them here in a few years.
Drummonds. BLM pays em like $3million or so a year for them to take care of them. You worked around there didnt you Dennis? (for Chuck?). My mom and my uncles places are near their lands and my kids like me to take them down by Drummonds gate to watch the wild horses run vs going out and watching the Buffalo out at the Preserve (the old Chapman/Barnard, Adams lands).

Horses were issued the equivalent ID papers as solders were, and wore them in little Bakelite tubes around their necks, just like dog tags. Field inventory of pack animals was more carefully tracked than tanks and munitions.
In some cases, the only manner of establishing a rough timeframe of death for a soviet solder was his family tracking down when his regiment's horses were killed, through review of these records. If the horse got it during action in some far-flung place, they knew that perhaps their solder met his end there too.
This in part describes while Soviet casualities are over-estimated in certain battles. While it may be true an entire division of 25,000 was wiped out, the casualty report might record 60,000. Solders were recorded as being killed in more than one battle.

I had a friend that worked for a big time farmer/rancher. His boss had a buffalo cookout where he invited lots of friends. My friend helped him butcher a horse for the cookout. Every one liked the buffalo meat!! The guy had enough money to cater a party and was killing and cutting up a horse as a joke. They didn't tell the guests.
Horse meat is great but I like the taste of mule meat better. both have a sweet tase and horses and mules under a year old are extremely tender. I really like them broiled. i used tyo eat a lot of it when I was hyounger but when I got married 44 years ago my wife refused to cook it.
That would be who I'm talking about. There are a few others but not on their scale. I worked for Oscar Hadden of the Hadden Ranch, but if cowboys were needed at other ranches, we would head over there and help for as long as needed. Donaldsons, Chapman/Barnard, oldfields, and others. Pretty much one big happy family back in those days with the exception of Bobby Donaldson. You didn't want to be around him after 2pm when he started drinking.
