I will be 68 in a few months, I ride a Honda Valkyrie Interstate, people ask me why and I always say because I used to ride a Harley. Its been to La. Tex. Kan. Col. Utah, Arizona, Neb. S. Dakota, Ar. Mo. New Mexico, Have never added oil, just check the tires, put gas in and go. I could never ever say that about the Harley, of course it was a 1969 xlch that I bought in early 1970 and they were not know for comfort.

And I still dont get what the big deal is. It was one of the our old "police specials". I can see now why they went to the BMWs. This thing was noisy, loud and vibrated all over the place. I doubt it would go all that fast for any extended period of time. Maybe Im just an old fuddy duddy but if you like em you can keep em.

GC if you had taken BB for a ride on the Harley you would know why some people love them. Supposedly the vibrations very nice to women riders. :naughty: :naughty:

I would LOVE to have a Harley V-Rod even if it isn't really considered a Harley in the same sense. Although, I'm too old and broken to ride a motorcycle again, if it ever tipped over I would have ask for help getting it back standing and you just can't look cool begging for help to pick up your hog lol. Maybe if I end up somewhere with land I might get a pretty pink dirt bike...with a gun scabbard on it!

My understanding is that if one owns a Harley, it is actually the other way around. Cost on parts and tools adds to the cost of the motorcycle so much that one NEVER gets even close to getting their money's worth.

My motorcycle days are over, but if I were to do another, it might be a BMW with the horizontally-opposed cylinders. (Do they still make those?)

I can get behind that! If I ever buy another bike, it'll be the BMW R-1200. What a comfortable bike it is.

I park my Aprilia next to Harleys every day in the parking lot at work, and try not to step in the oil puddle ; - )

Just messing with the Harley guys, I would buy one if I had the $$$

Harley's aren't what they used to be. I rode my buddy's '02 Ultra a few times in kommiefornia and I was flabbergasted at how nimble it handled. They've got the center of gravity perfect on them and it didn't feel anywhere near like a 900+lb bike should, not any heavier than my 1100 Honda Shadow! But my next bike will be a BMW R1200T. I'd like to have a VRod for sprinting around town and when feeling especially naughty a Haybusa. :hyper:

But no air cooled v-twins for me. :nolike: I'm not even sure it's even possible to just wear out a BMW boxer engine.

Man you guys have had some bad Harley experiences, not sure why though. I have looked at buying one a few times but never can pull the trigger because of retards on the road. I'd rather not get ran over but would love to have one. My co-worker however has gone through about 6 Harley's since I have worked with him. they all start out bone stock bikes & end up blown apart, powder coated & beautiful. He rides all over the place & has never complained about vibrations, discomfort or engine issues. And I have never seen any of his bikes leak even a single drop of fluids. But he does take extremely good care of his bikes. They are always clean enough to eat off of. I do know there are certain years & models he stays away from though. I remember him telling me what to look for when I was curious about one.
