lol you're nuts s4f. since when is calling the cops on someone you think is suspicious and keeping an eye on them looked down upon?

He didn't just keep an eye on the kid, he chased him around the neighborhood.

The problem here is that many of you are viewing this from GZ's perspective. Take a look from the point of a kid, wouldn't you feel a bit uneasy if some creepy dude was following you around your neighborhood?

If my kid would have ever come home and complained that some creepy old dude was following her around the neighborhood we would have had a problem. If a grown up has a problem with a kid, they should address the kid not stalk them.

I have been that kid. I ran because I'm not a thug.

ummmm....if you read the statutes that you posted the definition is in there. If your actions make someone else feel a threat of imminent danger you are guilty of assault.

Again, simply following someone and observing their actions is NOT a threat, the DA would laugh out loud at you if you tried to get him to file assault charges against someone for simply following you.

Florida: "(1) An "assault" is an intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person of another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent."

Following someone and observing their actions is not unlawful.

Oklahoma: ASSAULT AND BATTERY - ELEMENTS

No person may be convicted of assault and battery unless the State has proved beyond a reasonable doubt each element of the crime. These elements are:

First, willful;

Second, unlawful;

Third, use of force or violence;

Fourth, upon another person.

Again, simply following someone to observe their actions is not unlawful.

Didn't say being followed wasn't a cause for caution, I said it does NOT meet the definition of assault.

Doesn't matter how many times you say it, you are still WRONG!

You're confusing assault with assault and battery.
