Grown men should not wear short pants outside of excercise, swimming, their own property or similar situations. Restaurant? No. We are not little German boys.
The long cargo short trend (halfway between knee and ankle) is terrible. And the only alternative you see is the old men in short shorts with weird hairless legs. I'll sadly never forget the first old man scrotum I saw like a dying baby bird at a burger joint because an old man crossed his legs. *shudders*.
I prefer cowboy boots and sundresses on women to boots & shorts. It doesn't look quite as much like a Kenny Chesney audience and I find skirts and dresses sexier anyways. YMMV

What pisses me off are the "faux redneck" kids (sometimes early 20s...never older) who TUCK THEIR JEANS IN to their ****** cowboy boots. With their rolled bill rebel flag caps and ridiculous-sized skoal pinches. I grew up around real cowboys. They would first think it was an accident or you were hungover, second laugh you down, and the third time knock sense into you. Most of them wore lace up ropers anyways except to go out. None would walk around the grocery store with pants in boots.
Just the CMFM shorts they made us wear at EOD school 20+ years ago. God, those things...and the Navy wonders why all the gay jokes.
Seriously though, only if I'm running/training for the run n guns in the summer and only so I'm running in the same boots I'll be doing the RNG in. Other than that...no.

I wear shorts all the time... usually up until late Nov or so. I usually wear cargo shorts or athletic shorts, down to just above or right at the knee. Any shorter and I feel like I'm in an 80s movie and any longer (like the dipshits whose "shorts" go down to their high-ankle socks) and I would just kill myself and be done with it.
