Who needs a living wage when you can have cheap gas for a short while every decade or so?

Just think about yourself. Millions and millions of retirees in this country living on a fixed retirement income. Those sky high gas prices hurt them. Maybe it's their turn to be able to afford a steak.

Many of those retirement plans don't give cost-of-living increases. What you get is all you get. Sure maybe they could be greeters at WalMart if they were physically able, many aren't.

The price of oil was already back up almost $6.00 a barrel today. It ain't gonna stay low forever.

I guess I cannot feel sorry for those who didn't account for the cyclical nature of the energy and exploration sector when planning/contributing to their retirement.

Why are retirees driving? I fill my grandma's gas tank. About once every 2 months or more. She probably shouldn't be on the road at all, to be honest. She only drives in the daytime and never in busy areas at least. I don't think steak and her dentures mix, either.

It's OK. Those of us still working haven't gotten a proportionate cost of living increase in a few decades, either. We'll make do.

LOL.

Why can't poor people plan for high gas prices like those "in the oil biz" have to plan for layoffs/lower income?

YukonJack and Hobbes are on the same side of an argument. When they figure that out, both of 'em will **** a brick.

I wonder if Hobbes and YukonJack agree on the affects of migrant labor on the economy?

Another case of the plebes fighting over a cookie. Who is stealing that cookie? I bet it's the illegal Mexicans. And the union members.
