Oh, the yard is in that state constantly cause they roam all night. This is just the first one I've seen in daylight, but he's a persistent little buzzard. I have some CCI quiets, one of those from a semi auto pistol might not make too much noise. They will root your yard up where it looks like plow rows if you don't dispatch him. I have seen some let you walk right up on them and just look at you. Some won't let you get within 30 feet. They are dumb nasty creatures.
I've shot many from a tree stand, almost straight down and it pins them to the ground. One I was stalking for deer walking in a dry creek about 3' deep and I shot a Diller with an arrow straight through his side. It was pretty funny cause the arrow went half way through and he tried to run (I used a field tip) between 2 trees that were only a foot apart and the arrow stopped him in his tracks but he kept trying to run so I pulled a broadhead arrow and finished him off.Did that once and he went in his hole. got my arrow but lost the broadhead by unscrewing it.

They run across the fence, die and then become the neighbors problem.......I use my my gamo whisper 177cal pellet gun
