OSU's alumni need to get together and put some NIL deals out there. There should be some Pickens money still around to start.

Sure some kids will want those things, but explain Colorado's success right now. Otherwise, those kids can go to USC or something of the like. But watching how this season is panning out so far, one thing is for certain.....kids also want to play. Look at that UNC QB, the kid is a stud. He turned down million dollar deals to go play there. Notice Alabama doesn't look like the Alabama we've come to know? Kids don't want to sit behind a guy for 3-4 years, when they can go start somewhere else. Bama doesn't have the depth they used to and it's sure has heck showing.

Look at the recruiting rankings too...

If money was all that mattered, Texas & ND would be #1 & 2 but they are 8 & 17?? USC as well, they are getting RIDICULOUS money out in Cali. But they are #18.

Also, look at 25 and up, tell me why OSU shouldn't be able to compete with those schools in NIL, or overall recruiting for that matter?

Gundy is tired, he looks tired, and IMO, he doesn't want to coach in this environment of NIL and transfer portals. Hope he proves me wrong.
You're right, money and location don't matter. 🙄 There are a few kids that still have love for a school or a program but that number is dwindling.

Some people are obsessed with money for sure though, I agree.

But in your need to be sarcastic you're forgetting some recent history. Again, Colorado. Beautiful campus, women everywhere. Team was the bottom of the barrel for years. Contrast that with Stillwater, which has had success for quite some time.

There are many factors as to why kids go to a school, but it's quite obvious, the coaching staff is overall #1.

Well not really, y'all are completely ignoring the fact that OU wins championships.
23y since the last one, bulk of them 70y ago so I don't how that could be a valid selling point to any recruit when looking if they're looking for a ring/NFL over an education. 13 wins 12 bowl losses with one being a BCS Championship Game loss. Still 7 more rings than OSU, but no Nattys in a quarter century and a 50/50 bowl record since the last Natty isn't something the recruiters and coaches hit the players with for a selling point lol. That Okoye kid from Tulsa committed to OU on Wednesday, my son and I talked to him after their game in the parking lot last Friday. He didn't reveal or give hints about his upcoming decision but said he wanted to stay close to home.

Well the context was Softball. With regards to football, I don't think you'd make a valid argument saying OU can't relay a culture of winning, but you do you. One wonders how we made it all before NIL?

You might want to see what the Okoye kid said as to why he chose OU. Further solidifies my point.

I'm just an old fart and miss the days when players, coaches, and fans were loyal. When winning at all costs became the objective things started to deteriorate. Maybe it's always been like that and things were just hidden behind the scenes. Now we have the toilet bowl and every other imaginable bowl to make a buck or 2 instead of just deciding the winner of each conference and a national champion. I'be always been an OSU fan and am usually disappointed but there have been a few highlights to remember. If I was Gundy I would tell them to KMA and go spend my millions. He should have told them that over the t shirt BS. When schools and coaches kiss the ass of players it ruins the sport for me.
