If it is self sufficient. But what if it isn't. Solar wasn't doing a lot of good in my area the the last week.
The panels still work on cloudy days. Just not as well. One can always back the pickup to the rig and plug in the power cord using the truck alternator to recharge the batteries. I have three big deep cycle in mine that will keep everything running but the AC for several days before needing recharging. If we would add some solar panels we could stretch that time out.

Oh I understand. Have around 82 solar panels in service. Well not right now, it is dark. I also swapped out 18 deep cycle batteries yesterday to replace with ones that had been charged up on electric utility power.

My grandmas house and cousins house have non-forced air furnaces. Grandmas is just in the floor, just passively creates heated air that wafts through the house. Cousin has em in the walls. Same same. Both run on propane without electricity. Not real efficient, but grandma stays comfy around 81 degrees. The real story in this thread is Dennis having not one, but two positive things to say about solar, including the inference he might invest in it himself one day... It's truly a V-day to remember boys!

Went out and shoveled my porch and those of my neighbors when we had a break in the snow earlier. Started up again about the time I got done. The winds have cut down to breezy status so accumulation is starting here in Lawton. About five inches so far.
