Who was complaining. I simply told a story. Its called a forum for discussion or are you to stupid to realize?
Now run along, I can tell your a person whom I'll have no interest in hearing from further, ever.

It was a suggestion to get through this cold snap. Not to leave it there forever. Your'e reading comprehension can use a little help.

My grandmas house and cousins house have non-forced air furnaces. Grandmas is just in the floor, just passively creates heated air that wafts through the house. Cousin has em in the walls. Same same. Both run on propane without electricity. Not real efficient, but grandma stays comfy around 81 degrees. The real story in this thread is Dennis having not one, but two positive things to say about solar, including the inference he might invest in it himself one day... It's truly a V-day to remember boys!

Went out and shoveled my porch and those of my neighbors when we had a break in the snow earlier. Started up again about the time I got done. The winds have cut down to breezy status so accumulation is starting here in Lawton. About five inches so far.
LOL, never said they were cost efficient nor good for the environment with a huge carbon footprint to manufacture and dispose of at end of life. Using that 430 HP F-250 to recharge emitting all those CO2 gasses certainly doesn't meet the greenies definition of pollution free living. Probably going to destroy the environment world wide by doing that although the trees and grass that use that gas for photosynthesis to generate more Oxygen for the planet are probably enjoying the surplus. :hey3::D

Here, but occasionally There.
You don't use electricity?

Dennis has answered a bunch of it for me. Our RV is equipped with a pure sine wave 3000 watt inverter/converter unit, and when the factory installed it, they put in 4 batteries instead of just two. So, MOST of our electrical needs are supplied by 12V batteries. As long as we have electric to keep them charged up, we don't lose lights. Our ceiling fan and our residential refrigerator are the primary items that run only on electric. Well, except for an electric fireplace and two space heaters.

If we should lose power (hasn't happened in 2 1/2 years), then we can get a generator to recharge the batteries in the RV.

If worse were to come about, we can go to youngest son's house and set up cots near the gas fireplace to stay warm.

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
I'm in Houston; wife getting care from MDA. Texas' Electric Reliability Council of Texas, better known as ERCOT, announced Sunday that the supply of natural gas to power plants was limited, and half of the system's wind turbines had frozen, keeping at least 12k megawatts offline. ERCOT has a grid condition alert system that is now in 'conservation alert' status as consumption spikes across the state.
Rolling blackouts are expected across the entire state.

It is good that you have back up options.

Other posts tell the story about natural gas fueled power plants are having supply issues as well. Power issues don't just come from iced power lines failing.
