In a Ma & Pa restaurant No! (Server tells the owner how much they received in tips)

In larger chain restaurants were servers, were ID badges and swipe the cash register with orders.
The cash registers adds the restaurant's standard tip % (Based on History) to each servers W-2 whether they receive that amount of Tip on Not.

In Very High End Restaurant the servers pays a daily Shift fee to work for $2.13 per hour.

In Vegas, the server pays the head server to get the job. At Caesars Palace the bus boy at breakfast has to pay the head server $12,000 for the job and must pay a monthly stipend to the same person. An evening wait staff is about 4 times that to get employed.
We know a mother and son that is in vegas right now to confirm that.
The son used to work in Ponca City at a plumbing supply house for a little over minimum wage. He recognized me and took the wife and I on a tour of vegas that only employees know in his Mercedes that was given to him for a "tip" by a person from the middle east. Interesting week learning how that community works.

I've had plenty of nights we closed it down, went to iHOP until the sun came up. 20-30 up front tip and a little buttering of her ass, we sat right down.

In a college town? Very hard. Too much to drink, I couldn't agree more lol

Lmao I don't question what they should do in Manhattan because I have never been to Manhattan, just like you haven't been to a packed Ihop at 2 a.m. with a 2 table group. Almost every table was full and the entry way was overflowing with guests waiting for their name to be called. If you don't understand in peak hours popular places have a wait, then you don't get out much.

(This is pre covid)

(Big chain restaurants do the above and restaurants with over 10 servers do the above)

So tipping with cash or credit card does not change their W-2 taxable amounts.
I small restaurant does no have to follow the above rules (Under 10 Servers)

How would it not change their amounts if they tipped on a CC? Those CC tips are all reported.
