Ruger Mk III 22/45 is like the rest of my collection. Can't leave 'em factory original!
This one has Volquartsen trigger, and I had gunsmiths paint the gun with red Cerakote. The polymer grip area was milled flat to accept olivewood grips made by Sarge http://shop.thefinergrain.com/ , 1911...
Back in the day when I had to work, I was doin' 4-6 cups a day when I was flying. Cut it back to 2 cups and found I could sleep better and felt better; also didn't get a headache if I missed a cup or so.
When I go shooting, I drink only a half cup or none, seems I take less time to get warmed...
This was originally brushed stainless; I went after it with Mother's Mag Wheel Polish and Blue Magic as well. Trigger job was done to perfection by a shop in OKC.
This is the "War Horse", it was delivered to the Army in May of '45. Somebody chromed and tooled it, and my father in law...
The old War Horse was originally issued to the Army in May of 1945. Somebody got it chromed and tooled, then my father in law ended up with it. Gave it to me and I had the extras added, like ambi safeties, trigger job, etc. Recently added grips by Sarge with the war horse image added by a laser...
I was born and raised in Portland OR. You want nature and beauty, go to the NW! Oklahoma has beauty too, but it's the plains and open country, with hills and mountains scattered about.
I've been in Oklahoma for 34 years, came here by way of the USAF. Stayed by choice. All the previous...
I've had a Mk III 22/45 and recently added a Bushnell Trophy series Red Dot sight to the gun. I've only shot it a few times but I've been pleased with the result. I have Parkinson's, so my right hand is pretty jiggly most of the time, and I find that the added weight of the sight seems to help...
Name: Retired Airline Captain (Couldn't get a real job, so I flew...)
Avatar: Not allowed to have a girlfriend, so I keep a mistress...in the garage! (It's also the other hobby when the weather is nice.)
Another factor that I've found to be nice is that the shooting positions are large enough that you can actually stand in the lane behind a new shooter and do some instruction and coaching.
I typically go once a week and often more than that, and before lunch has been convenient for me. I've...
I plan to be there unless we get snow. :grumble:I hate snow. It does not belong on my grass, or my cars, or the airplanes I used to fly. It belongs on mountains. We don't allow mountains here.
My decision was based on 3 points.
1. When the original CCL law was passed, I thought it was OK but not really needed for most folks. Then Sept 11th came along. Made my thinking a lot more conscious of the many soft targets our society has everywhere.
2. I began to realize that crime...
Retired 3 yrs ago from AA. Enjoyed the career tremendously until about the last year or so. Retired about 10 months early due to Parkinson's, though it wasn't all that bad. (Still not terribly bad, just got tired of the rat race!)
Flew C-130s in the Guard, enjoyed that as well.

The grips are the original ones that came with the gun, though I did refinish the wood inserts.
Recent change: a set of Hogue grips I got at the Wanenmacher show in Tulsa recently...
I like the Hogues a lot since the recoil energy is spread out over a larger area and is more comfortable...
The company was well favored for many years, but I think the major problems started when we took massive pay cuts after 9/11, but the muckety mucks got to keep their bonuses. That left a very bad taste in our mouths.
The company is very good at dragging their feet in negotiations and thus...
I retired from airline flying in Dec '07. I was with AA for 21 yrs, flew most of our fleet, from the 727 to the MD11, retired off the Super 80.
I'd be happy to help ya if I can.
I took the gun to my gunsmith to check trigger pull readings before and after. The original trigger values with factory springs were 11 lbs double action and 5 lbs single action.
I put in the 9 lb hammer spring at first and got a few misfires. Went to the 10 lb spring and will be checking it...
I just ordered a spring kit for my GP100. I disassembled the gun this morning and got it back together OK, and it appears that the main spring change-out will be very simple.
How difficult is the trigger spring to change? The triggger assembly looks like it could get a bit complicated; is...
I had a lil boy come to the door and ask for a glass of water! He was about 3 or 4; I told him I'd close the door and bring him some water, just wait there.
When I gave him the water, he drained the glass like he'd crossed a desert!
:drink:
I got a look into his candy bag, and he'd...
