They said that the balloon needs 2mph or less winds because it's so fragile... not sure how it survives higher winds at altitude but ? oh well.

Hope we get a show tomorrow.

I think it's mostly during the inflation and launch...since the balloon/tether extends some 700 feet above the gondola. With the gondola still on the ground and attached to the crane, any wind pushing the balloon around could make a mess.

Gotcha. That makes more sense.

I guess the launch is scrubbed for tomorrow too? Let's get this bird flying, I want to see what happens when he breaks the sound barrier.

So why haven't we been back to the moon since the days of slide rules? (I'd bring up projects like the SR-71, too, but that's been superceded by satellites.)

I really didn't include space in my comment, and I suspect that most manned outer-space oriented experiments are decided by our risk-adverse mentality these days. Sliderules aside, I would guess that NASA does not see a compelling need for moon travel any longer.
