SB173; no liability for property/business owners that do or do not allow firearms to be carried: seems like this could cut both ways.
It might make it easier for some to decide to allow firearms, but it also hurts the argument that if they refuse to allow firearms in the business then the business is responsible for customers not being able to defend themselves.

I don't know if anyone has actually sued a business for that before.............?

Wasn't there a bill that clarified that simply posting a no-guns sign did not mean crossing the threshold was tresspassing? You had to be asked to leave first?

I am referring to legislation that was being introduced that applied specifically to schools. As of right now, schools are the only place you can not legally keep a firearm in the vehicle while on the property. Every other place, vehicle is considered your private property and gun is good. I hate having to leave my firearm home during the week and not have it as I am out and about before or after work.

HB 2021- Wonder how this Bill will apply to those weapons and accessories that are currently classified as NFA under the "Uncles" prudent and watchful eyes? I'm quite sure that some form of fiscal withholding would follow such a bold move by the state. Thoughts?

Sadly, no. The only one that comes close is HB1622 which would allow private schools to determine their own policy. Public schools would still not allow firearms to be stored in the parking lot.

The original bill only eliminated liability for companies who did not post signs. The bill was amended in committee to remove liability from every business which is ridiculous. There have been businesses in other states that have been sued over injuries from criminals doing things where people could not defend themselves. This legislation is based on Wisconsin law and had almost identical wording. The original legislation would have been a good law.

There were a couple bills that would have required you to be asked to leave before it could be considered trespassing, but those never made it out of committee.
