.270 for deer is fine. .270 shoots flatter than 30.06. i perfer a .270 over 30.06 for deer. i have a buddy in Kansas that has shot lots and lots of deer. his choice is .243. plenty of power and very flat.

Buy it and budget a Rifle Basix trigger, the reciever is worth more than that but the stock Stevens trigger sucks.

it's also one of the tamest full size rounds to shoot.
