Your scenario would only contribute to the shortage because of additional ammo to be had for additional purchase by early risers.
For the record, I haven’t bought ammo or supplies in a year at least. Don’t need to and my shooting schedule continues unabated because of looking down the pipe and seeing what might happen in the future.

I still have receipts from 2003-4 when I was buying cases of 9mm blazer aluminum from Academy for $93 out the door. 500 bricks of Federal 510 for $6 and change.
