the old lady and I are looking for places to use to tie the knot, we found some good places at good prices, but they have all had some preclusionary attributes(to me). I am just looking for a fairly cheap prices place that can fit 150-200 people(these are HER numbers, mine was substiantially smaller...). would prefer wedding and reception in the same location, I have no problem with a church, but am not a member of one and don't plan on joining one which apparently poses a problem..if yall know of anywhere shoot me a suggestion. I think we are looking at spending $4000 or less with as much included as possible. Thanks OSA.

Seriously, spent the thousands you would on a wedding having a blast in Vegas then come home and have a reception for family and friends. Your friends will appreciate this. The only ones who might be a little upset are your moms. They'll get over it. We spent easily over 5,000 on our wedding and it was small and simple. I tell everyone to go to elope now.

$4000 on a wedding? Good luck buddy! My wife and I had a budget of 5k and doubled that, on a small wedding. There is so much little crap you have to buy. I love my wife to death but I regret ever having a wedding. All the money we spent on a 6 hour party would have made a killer honeymoon after we eloped. We finally got all our credit cards paid off. Take your 4,000 bucks and go get married on the beach or in vegas.

Another group that might get upset: the singles hoping to "score" at the wedding reception. I hear that's a popular venue for scoping out opportunities :naughty:

And if I understand correctly, the average wedding in the US costs between $15,000 and $25,000. So you did well keeping the cost down to $5,000.

Oh don't forget the wedding dress! I have a $400 wedding dress hanging in our closet that got a good 8 hrs of wear, plus all the money you spend having it altered and stuff. Thanks for bringing this subject up, now i'm gonna call my wife and remind that she needs to wear her wedding dress out and about more often to get our moneys worth :smack:

I bought my daughters wedding dress over the internet from China, cost $180 with shipping and it is an exact duplicate of the $4000 dress she picked out here.
The wedding was held at a little chapel in Edmond that had a reception hall attached, 200 people cost me at just over $5000 and that was after shopping around for over a year and making a lot of deals. That did not pay for the photographer, he was going to charge $2000 so we got some cameras and everyone took pictures.

I had offered them $5000 to elope and go to Vegas, Guess where they spent the honeymoon? and that cost them an extra $7500 but it is on their plastic not mine.

Congratulations and good luck
