When they pat down women and grab their breast and twist them to make sure theres not a bomb in them I'd classify that as rape....

and you might be right, but that could just as easily happen with the current system. Ever set off the metal detector and had to have the pat down? Same thing could easily happen. It's not an issue with the body scanners or a privacy issue. It's an issue with how that person performed a pat down (or there is always a chance it's one person's exaggerations, but again, for the sake of this argument, lets assume it happened).

Since I'm not a lesbian, I am not likely to ever have a wife.

This is about the level of over reaction as saying that an x-ray is like a naked picture. Can you see the outline of the body? Yes. Can you see that she has boobs? Yes. Can you see what color her nipples are and if the carpet matches the drapes? No!

Apologies for getting your gender wrong.

My understanding is that most of the scan images shown in articles are not as detailed as the machines actually show. I base that on some very detailed images that can be found if you look. ....It's not about color, it's about detail.

Who exactly are "they?" ("their rules")

Our government is "Of the people, by the people and for the people."

If the next rule is everyone must wear straightjackets and blindfolds would you support that as well?

You can argue that our government shouldn't be providing security for private business, but that is a different discussion.

You have no right to fly. Period. An airline can refuse to let you fly if it so desired and the rules are such that you can't get through security without a ticket.

If straightjackets and blindfolds were required for flying then i likely wouldn't. My issue with it would start when the government requires them for courthouses, schools or other places that i am required to enter.

How is this that different than places with no gun signs? Many people here consider the ability to defend themselves a right. Businesses are allowed to say guns aren't allowed. People are allowed to not do business with those places.

Granted, the airlines can make their own security rules and exclude people who don't meet the rules (private property). But the airline aren't making the rules, a new growing government security bureaucracy is. It bodes poorly for our freedom.

Well I guess that makes it ok then.

I used to work in a hospital as the personnel director, and required all personnel to have chest Xrays because most had not done so. Learned you can see pretty good outlines of chest anatomy, got bored with looking at 'em pretty quickly. This was many years ago, and working with Xray techs was a hoot. Learned a lot. Diagnosed my mom's lung cancer when I saw her xray pix . . . Docs didn't believe me, did a biopsy anyway.

As far as the patriot act backed "invasions of privacy," I don't care who sees my "shortcomings." If they stop one terrorist induced aircraft loss, I think it's all worth it.

Should they be polite and courteous? Yes. If you knew what kind of ******* passengers they have to put up with, you would be shocked. No wonder they adopt a callous attitude.

Much ado about nothing. CB
