All around rifle?

I paid $89 for the Strut on sale in 2017. Also paid only $495 for the mini

I would be willing to go up to $495 for one.

Yes that strut is out of my price range but if I can get the first shot or two in the kill zone of an attacker, or one to the kill zone of a deer, I am okay with that.

just my opinion. since the mini 14 isn't known as an accurate rifle at long range aaaand since you didn't purchase it for long range anyway.... i would get a red dot of quality that can take the abuse of the mini 14 recoil impulse. maybe a small micro like a doctor or some other? aimpoint pro??? i think you can get a decent railed handguard pretty reasonable. not sure though about an old one like yours though.

i have these on my m1 carbine and it sits low and doesn't look tacticool either. it holds either a dot or a scope just fine.
