I had to draw on an upset teenage girl one time who went and got mom's gun from the nightstand after I told her that she "was a CHILD and WOULD do as her mother had instructed her (do homework or something or other)." She didn't like the answer mom and I had for her. She ended up dropping it and promptly regretting her course of action. I think about would I or would I not have been prepared to use deadly force on her from time to time. My father, a Viet Nam veteran, advised me growing up that "A kid with a grenade can kill you just as dead as a grown man can," among other things. He doesn't talk about it much, but I listen when he does and try to learn from his experiences. Glad it turned out for the best in this scenario.
