So after selling 200 rounds of ammo with my m&p I found myself needing to restock and I tried academy and before they did the obligatory hang up on me they said they have been out which was strange because they seemed to be getting back to normal.
Well turns out the last lead refinery in US is being shut down? Well so I bought 100 rounds of crap ammo (American eagle?) Along with our new versa carry holster at h&h and paid way too much.
If anyone needs me I will be counting my cans of spam and hiding some silver in my back yard.

If you're looking for .223, Wal-Mart in MWC @ 15th & Sooner had roughly 80 of the bulk 150rd boxes of AE on the shelf at noon today. I left them all there for you guys. Today was the first day this week they've been out of 9mm at noon. That's what I've been buying.

The lead smelter topic has been discussed in the gen forum. I don't see it being guilty for any shortage. Most of our lead has been imported for years.

As for the shortage it's getting better, just the shelves aren't full 24/7. Outside of 22lr I see lots of stuff. Just not sitting there collecting dust.

Ammo supply seems to be hit-and-miss, depending on where you live and where you shop. The Walmart in south Broken Arrow has had almost zero pistol caliber ammo for months, but lately, I've been seeing some .40 S&W, and occasionally a bit of 9mm and .45 ACP, and a box or two of other calibers. No .22, thanks to the early-morning campers who snap up all of that caliber as soon as it's stocked.

There is plenty of 5.56 out there now but the price hasn't adjusted yet. Seems like that 150 pack of AE 5.56 at WM is around $70. So around .50 per round. You can occasionally find it for normal price ($400 per 1k) online from time to time.

The stars did align for me this AM though. Happened to stroll through the Chickasha WM about 9 this AM and they had 4 325 round boxes of federal .22 automatch on the shelf. Got my 3 and skipped out the door like a school girl. Saw some 9mm at Atwoods too but $18 for 50rnds blazer brass 9mm is a bit high too.

I wonder how those would cycle in my 10/22, it normally doesn't like bulk ammo, so I stick with CCI. Could be my Butler Creek mag that is the problem tho. Academy has been having a decent selection lately, but the do cost more than Walmart. Even if there is only a $1.00 savings on the 270 I buy. lol
