Last Friday I strolled past the ammo counter at Wal Mart,,,
Lo and behold there were five 550 round Federal bulk packs in the shelves.

I bought 'em all.

Monday I took another peek and saw five 100 round packs of 40 gr RN Mini-Mags.

I bought them as well.

I had recently done an ammo inventory,,,
I am now the proud owner of 48,004 rounds of .22 LR.

Not quite where I was before the Obama shortage,,,
But I'm getting close. :rubhands:

Curious how much .22 ammo you shoot a year.

Hello Mad Professor:

Not so much this season,,,
Corona virus has me a bit leery to go out much.

But my history has been 250 or more rounds per range trip,,,
And at least two trips (often more) per month year round.

6K to 7K rounds per year more or less.

I'll be retired soon so I expect that may go up.

I grew up stopping on the way to the range to get the days ammo,,,
The last 10 years of intermittent availability convinced me to build up a bench stock.

I hate running completely out of any essential thing I use regularly.

Can’t fault that. I do see people buying 2-3 lifetime supplies of ammo, so was just wondering. I’ve shot about 10K of it this year. And about 20K of 9mm. I’m going to have to pull back a bit until I see the supply starting to go the other way.

I got these nice walnut grips for my 32ACP PPK/S today. They are just as thin as the stock plastic grips that come stock. That’s not the norm in my experience, usually wood grips are fatter, at least for the PPK and PPK/S. Nice tight fit too. Hope they hold up! Time, and rounds down range will tell. This pistol is a joy to shoot.

Sooner State Pawn called about 4:30PM; my latest acquisition showed up; I wasn't expecting it today either! So I ran up there in rush hour traffic, dodged an accident on Hefner Parkway, and picked it up! A beautiful deep blue Walther PPK/S, made in West Germany in 1974. Came with box and two mags and manual, looks like it has been handled and fired very little. Not a mark on it. Kills me; people buy a nice pistol and stick it away...just in case. Then, when grandpa passes on, the relatives sell it to a pawn shop or something. Jeebus. I'm gonna baby this one, but I darn sure am gonna shoot it too! I think...
