I prefer the little .223 or 5.56 when in comes to under 200 yard killing.
My favorite bullet of them all that has not let any critter get away is the 55gr V-Max.

I have shot hogs in the neck and through the shoulder and in the ear and in the crease behind the shoulder for a heart shot.
Most fall over where they stand others tumble down the hill or spin in a circle and die within 10 feet.

Blackout with Barnes Vor-TX with the 110gr Tac-TX bullet will put a hurting on them piggies. I'd 100% do that over 5.56.

For what you’re wanting to do with an AR, I’d say find a lower locally to avoid all the FFL BS and order a Palmetto upper in whatever configuration tickles your fancy (I’d recommend something with a flat top), and it’s going to be plenty accurate and durable for your needs without costing a fortune.
