I sorta like this feature,,,
Even though I'm certain I would turn it off,,,
But I'll tell you a funny story about "shake-awake".

A buddy of mine bought a very high-dollar red dot with shake awake feature,,,
He mounted it on a "get me home AR style rifle" that he let live in his trunk.

Apparently the movement of the car was enough to "shake it awake",,,
It ran the battery down between range trips.

Yep, it will do that in cars.
Good to know! I’m going to keep turning mine on and off.

On my pistol I bought the Swampfox Sentinel, with the auto dimming feature, instead of the shake awake. That way if I'm carrying and the sensor is covered, it just dials it down instead of turning it on full blast all the time. I don't keep a car carbine, so I haven't worried about it for that.

Well, my dilemma of choice has been taken care of,,,
I got a like-new-in-box Sig Sauer Romeo 5,,,
At a price that just couldn't be beat.

A member of this forum read this post and PM'ed me,,,
If I paid for shipping or drove to OK City to get it,,,
He would just let me have it for free.

I was stunned by that act of generosity,,,
I will pay it forward some day in the future.

So this morning I drove to the City and there it was,,,
In the box with all of the documentation and the sight adjustment/allen wrench tool.

I have it mounted and it is perfect,,,
It turns out that it came with two mounts,,,
One tall mount and one that is quite a bit shorter.

The short mount made the sight align perfectly with my eye,,,
The front sight blade is still visible in the tube,,,
But low enough to not be in the way.

Tomorrow, if it doesn't rain, I'll go to the range and sight it in,,,
I'll take some pics while I'm there and post them here.

It's very sleek and sexy!

my first endeavor with the red dot was the Wasp that came on my Hellcat. The Wasp was developed by SA specifically for the Hellcat I believe. It was smaller...not as tall, etc. but non-adjustable dot size. I had a real hard time getting used to finding the dot. I blamed it on the Wasp so I purchased 2 identical Holosuns, 507K, one for my Hellcat and one for my Sig P322 (22lr). use the Sig so I could practice without burning thru my 9mm ammo. I am very pleased with the Holosuns. Lots of dot choices, sizes and be changed .

Good people, I can't say how much this improves the balance of the Carbine,,,
That Nikon 3-9x40 scope I had on it made it very top-heavy.

I should have taken a pic of it with the scope,,,
So you could see the difference.

It aligns perfectly with my eyeline,,,
Target acquisition is now much faster,,,
This little Gem just might be a Steel Challenge rifle.

Going to the range this afternoon to dial it in.

Well today was a good day,,,
I actually drug my decrepit old self to the range.

On the way I checked my PO Box,,,
The magazines I ordered came in this morning,,,
Including the 25-round mag I ordered just for the heck of it.

So, it took me a few 10 round mags to get it dialed in at 50 yards,,,
I put 10 rounds into each of the 5 targets on the Champion Sight In Target.

Then I put up the 8" bulls-eye target,,,
And fired 4-25 round mags of Federal Auto Match at this target.

Not bad for my first time using a red dot,,,
There were a few absolute flyers,,,
But hey, I'm 72 years old.

I gotta say that the 25-round mag worked perfectly,,,
It might have been a mistake buying it though,,,
One can go through lots of ammo quickly.

Thanks to Jason Freeman for making this happen.

Your welcome, I had it and you needed it. It was just taking up space in my office.

I have a Riton that has an auto-brightness feature. The dot is almost completely off in the dark which makes it basically useless when I’d most likely need it the most. I’ll be replacing it with a Holosun K-series when funds allow.

Never had an issue with mine, but I haven't had to use it emergently in the dark yet, thankfully.

I know the OP already got his sight, but something else to consider when shopping for a red dot: some of them that have a solar cell do not have a user serviceable battery and have to be sent to the manufacturer for replacement.
