There is something terribly, terribly wrong here. That is an extreme bulge, and not in the location it should be in an "unsupported" chamber. Something is drastically wrong here.
I’m with you on this. Almost seems like the pistols chamber is machined wrong or something.

I’m wondering if the Winchester brass mentioned in the OP was 40S&W and the Speer was 9mm. It’s not impossible there was a mix up.
I got a round of 9mm in a box of factory .40 S&W ammo once ... Winchester, I think. Definitely knew something was amiss when I touched it off!
Friend of mine shot a 20 in a 12 gauge. It also sounded funny.
