I just picked up a .458 SOCOM Barrel kit from Tony at Tromix. So far from what I see is this is top of the line work. As of now they have all the parts to make a AR-15 into a .458 SOCOM. The barrel, Bolt (not the complete BCG) Flash hider or brake, and the gas block. I got this most way together and took a pic. of it and hope to take it out this weekend.

Right now if anyone is wanting to get set up like this, this is the kit to have. I been looking on line at other kits and for the price, you just can not beat it. All the parts are well made. Now I have not shot this upper just yet, but I have got to shoot a friends gun that has the same set up and at 50 yards the holes hit on the paper.

I feel that Tony as hit a home run with this. I can not wait to get this upper out this weekend and try it out.

Thank you a lot Tony!!

I had a Rock River .458 SOCOM, fun to shoot, shot 325 hornadys out of it. Accuracy was 1.25" at 100y to three different powders. Kept the dies and brass, just in case.:)

It hitting on paper 8.5"×11" about size. So far what I see is you can not use a Corbon ammo. It was all over the place. I will try to post more pic, of the other parts tonight when i get home from work.

I've been thinking about this.. I am in love with the .458 diameter bullets, I have three 45-70's and just built a Savage 111 in 458 win mag. I had some 500 grain solids, some 400 grain partition loads and a few 350 grain HP bullets. The 500 grain solids are BRUTAL in recoil, the 400's are almost as bad, and the 350's just punish somewhat. I assume the 450 SOCOM isn't too bad with the gas system and recoil buffer in the AR platform. My old bones and joints don't withstand recoil nearly as well as they did 30 years ago.

I've got a lot of 500gr and 405gr that I never got around to loading in it. Just have to use them in the 45-70's and .458 Lott..........armadillos are vicious sometimes....unpredictable and often charge when provoked, lol.:)
