Anyone think Coburn could be a legit candidate for POTUS?

This - he'd be a great majority leader. Some of this creativity in stopping the health-care plan (or at least forcing the Dems to acknowledge his "no Viagra for sex-offenders" bill) was pure genius.

He's a "Smart politician (and I say politician tongue-in-cheek)" and that scares the average dumb-as-toast blindly-following voter.

Which is both ironic and sad because I personally feel that he's got at least more than a few of the elements that the founding fathers had...

Very well stated, and I couldn't agree more. We need a lot more Tom Coburns in congress.

Here, but occasionally There.
He'd need more time on the main stage than he's had so far and I don't think he'd be willing to crawl into bed with the lowlifes you have to suck up to to win. It's such a shame that national politics in the US has come to this. :(

Actually, Dr. Coburn pretty well knows a LOT about the procedures of the Senate and other entities as well. How else do you think he got the nickname from the Dems of "Dr. No?" It was parlimentary procedures that he used to put a stop to several bills, at least for long enough for others to see the evils within those bills.

While I would vote for in in a heartbeat, I seriously doubt that he would run for President. But, I'd love it if he did.

Actually I believe he could have an excellent chance in the next couple of elections. His willingness to stand up even against his own party at times and his fiscal conservatism will play well with the Republicans who are starting to swing back to the right, with the Tea Party crowd, and with most Independents. He could very well ride a wave of conservatism right into the White House as a reaction to the current administrations socialist policies.
