If gun control advocates want to actually have meaningful discussion and debate about the “assault weapon” and “high capacity” ban, they MUST address these questions:
- Why ban cosmetic features?
- Why ban guns used in a mere 2% of crime?
- Why base gun control legislation on rare and statistically insignificant mass shootings to begin with?
- Why ban magazines that have been consistently sized since their invention?
- How would banning these magazines have saved lives, given that all a shooter needs is multiple magazines and 3 seconds of time (i.e. Cho)?
- How will a ban on either these weapons or magazines reduce crime, since there are many millions of them legal and available anyway, especially since production has ramped up after the ban’s expiration?

And most importantly:

After a decade of failure, why assume that the bans will reduce violent crime THIS time around?

The only reason I could think of for banning all of this again is a false sense of security. It'll make ignorant people feel better. And I don't say that to be mean, that's all I can think that this ban will do.

Excellent read. Good points. Especially the point about how "mass killings" are a very small problem and are actually declining.

The only reason for an assault weapon ban is to ultimately disarm America in the next 10 years. Just like Great Leader wants single payer government healthcare but has said it it will take 10 years and a transition process....similarly, the goal is to disarm 80 million Americans, the last barrier to the utopia and one world!
But it will take a "transition process".
Check out this video for Great Leader's thoughts on single payer healthcare and how it is being pushed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_xwnVLC-YQ

Prediction: In the coming months, starting from his victory speech, Great leader will put on a reasonable air and emphasize how NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT TAKING GUNS AWAY....just a small segment of weapons that no one needs.....disarmanent is a myth....heard this before?

:)

Heres some questions that anti's could counter with.
Why do you need a gun that LOOKS like a military weapon? Is it just because it LOOKS like theirs?
If its JUST a cosmetic difference, why do people fight so hard to protect cosmetic differences?
Does the 2A protect cosmetic differences?
