So I made a horrible decision of reading a thread (On a different gun site) about "Why did you get divorced" and I've got to say it scared the crap out of me. So could someone PLEASE tell me something good about marriage before I run away and become a gun-toting nun. :bolt:

:comfort: Winter's coming honey ... you are gonna need someplace to put your cold feet ... Hang in there!

Seriously though, every couple is different and you cannot judge your relationship by anyone else's experiences or standards.

My co-workers had a pool going on how long GC and I were gonna last ... It's been 9 years now. One of the lawyers later told me the longest anyone gave us was 6 months. Toads ... :tounge:

Wait, did you get married yet or not? The invitations have gone out? You under 30 years? Just do some good pre-marital counseling sessions (the full series), and that should tell you whether or not it *ought* to work. Date for a bare minimum of 4-5 years, and live together a bare minimum of 6 months. And, not or. Good luck. :)

P.S. Wait, does he hate guns? If yes, then you should run. Fast. Just my opinion.

been married 27 years and my wife and I have never had a real fight.
We still have a date every week, sometimes it's just a dollar movie and cheap dinner but we still make time for each other. Our kids are grown and out of the house but we still make time to keep each other as best friends.

my situation is we are unofficially engaged...been together 3.5 years and lived together for most of it...no rush but she would like her ring soon as she is getting impatient.

Short version of our courtship. Met in December, moved in March or April ... married in August ... Only "counseling" we got was his friends telling him he shouldn't do it ... I didn't have any friends so I was spared that indignity. LOL

I can't say it has all been a bed of roses, but it helps that we have a commitment to EACH OTHER, not the institution of marriage. Even if we hadn't married, I have no doubt we would still be together.

sage advice...I could do better of taking it. But take time for your marriage. We have a house full of kids, so sometimes easily forgotten. But it does't have to be complex..a hour or two at walmart...just take adult time. even if it is just you too, out of the house.
