Here, but occasionally There.
I want to try slaps after watching them on a bbq competition last week. Yes, they won yet again.

"Winning" isn't everything...

...the wife REALLY hates hearing about "really good" BBQ places and then finds out the BBQ sauce is too sweet.

I never trust the judges in cooking contests.

Hi, Noble! As a Missouri ex-pat I feel qualified to answer this question. As stated, Gates and Bryant's are the old school places and feature the classic ketchup vs vinegar sauce battle. Oklahoma Joe's is another option but for me This is who you seek!

I don’t do bbq sauce on my bbq ;). That’s signs of bad bbq.

Most real good places uses different recipes for competition vs restaurant. Competition you have to win with one bite.

We went a couple years ago. Slaps was great! Didn’t finish the slop from Gates. Threw half of it away it was that bad. Tried one of the Joe’s and it was ok, nothing special. Got ribs at all three places. Next time we go to KC I’m taking an ice chest and dry ice and bring back 4 or 5 slabs from Slaps it was that good.
