If you like cheap small parts, safety fitting issues, and a worthless hammer lock that has turned some guns into single shots.

I assume these are all parts that could be replaced by a competent gunsmith... Besides what 1911 couldn't use a little TLC from a good 1911 gunsmith.

Well, as far as favorite would be the Sig 1911, I really like the one I have. I've owned a few Colt Gold Cups and Colt Commander, but this is definately my favorite. BUT, for 500ish you might look at the Taurus. I've seen good reviews but also bad. But, you could almost buy a new one for 500 smackers.
