Well, maybe less of a federal government and more of an advanced EU/confederation type system. Maybe just have each state make agreements with eachother, share a military and have an common economic system similar to the EU in terms of free transfer of people, goods and common currency.

Have you seen what's happening to the EU? It's faltering before falling flat on it's face. Our .gov as designed works just fine. We just need to get back to the original version.

The problem with our government is that it takes too much power from the States. Half of our country doesn't believe in our idea of government. They want the government to run everything.

I don't think we are able to run a government like that. their world view is just too different, and all these protests against President Trump makes this clear to me. There is a very large number of very dangerous people in the federal government who have the authority and the desire to destroy not only our second amendment, but redesign our whole government. When the government becomes destructive, there is only one way to deal with it.

Let the Californians run their shithole into the dirt, why do we have to go down with them? Our government is failing. if the EU fails, they can just leave and make their own currency. If the US fails with us in it, we've got to pick up the pieces.

the problem isn't with the government itself, it's with the people we have to share it with. People from California, massachusetts and New York.

If you've got a problem with my opinion, you're free to contest it.

Or not.

I didn't see nothing. "Ignore" is a wonderful function.

If that's how you choose to deal with opposing opinions, that's your right.

The simple solution is to return to the Constitution - after we repeal the 16th and 17th amendments and Section 4 of the 14th. All else can stay, but WE MUST ABIDE BY THE CONSTITUTION. PERIOD. WITHOUT EXCEPTION. It's like everything else in the world. Everything runs better when you follow the instruction manual. You can't fix a Ford with a Chevy manual. You can't run a cement mixer in accordance with a lawn mower manual. You can't run a republic in accordance with Mein Kamp.

It is way past time we in this country got back to arming ourselves the way our Founding Fathers so wisely saw fit to insure us the impunity to do so in the Constitution. B.E.Wood

And why the ATF? Why does DEA get a pass?

I believe the argument has to do with why the ATF was founded in large part to fight prohibition related violations. And that many of it's functions are now handled (better) within other agencies.

Many view it as an agency that has completed it's mission and thus needs to be retired.

The problem is that the other half of the country wants to repeal the 2nd and 1st amendments and have the government run everything.

Your instruction manual is entirely different from theirs.

I just think the federal government is too strong -- an EU-like economic agreement would achieve the same benefits of an integrated economy without the ability to interfere with our basic rights. Californians don't want guns? Fine. I just don't want them to come to Florida, Georgia or Oklahoma and tell us how to live.

Besides, doesn't Texas give more money to the government then they get back?
