Well, this story has strayed far, far away from the known information. The timelines are incorrect and key people are missing from events. The Hamer family sued the movie creators for the movie in the 60s. I wonder if they are watching this.

The Hamer character appeared to have a Model 1907 in one scene with a short mag. Hamer actually owned, and used, a custom Remington Model 8.

Look for Winchester Model 1907 rifles. They were widely used by both gangsters and law enforcement. They were the FIRST semi-auto, magazine fed "assault" rifle. Very high-tech for the time. Chambered in .351 Winchester, they were used by law enforcement and corrections officers into the early 60s. Really a neat weapon that is VERY under appreciated.
