Love it.

True though that this IS an opportunity to show people the light also.

While Obama and the anti-gunners are attempting to use this mass murder as an opportunity to erode our rights, we can also use their actions to show reasonable, informed, THINKING people the truth and bring them over to our side.

I've always maintained that whether you're a D or an R or an I, (for the most part) once you own a weapon, practice with it and become proficient in it's use and decide that you will ensure your rights to defend yourself, you will NEVER vote to remove those rights. I sincerely hope that all of the increased firearms ownership and CCW holders over the last years have taught enough people that there ARE those who would love nothing more than to take our guns away. VOTE THEM OUT! Even if you're a Democratic for other reasons, you can still strengthen our 2nd Amendment rights by voting for candidates who will more likely protect them. Sure, there are flip-floppers like we've seen of late, but make 2A rights the core of your voting decision and you'll be doing us all a favor.

This attack is more from Feinstein than Obama

Very true that she's taken a leadership role in the attach, although Obama and the others are certainly supportive of it and making a huge push from their end. Obama has after all used the office of the Presidency to make a national address regarding it. That carries MUCH more weight than blowhard Feinstein.

Blame me when the legislation has passed. But dont think for a second any of this could have been prevented with McCain/Romney sitting in place of Obama.

I disagree to some extent. Obama is in the catbird seat with respect to this issue. He has the greatest political capital he will have for the rest of his time elected right now AND he has nothing to lose. Therefore he is pushing the issue and will never veto it.

If Romney would have just been elected, he would be listening to the people who elected him more than anything in the hopes of setting up for re-election in 4 years. I doubt he'd be pushing it and using the office of the President to hype it all up. Plus the chance of a veto by him at least is a chance... unlike with Obama.

Congress on the other hand does hold most of the power on this issue. It will be interesting to see how things shake out. Republicans in the House are operating on a completely different mandate than the people pushing a ban. It will all come down to them and whether or not their polling shows they can get re-elected if they support a ban.

But I don't blame you either way... :)

I do not think the Repugs would have went after our 2A rights like a bunch of foaming at the mouth rabid dogs that the Demos have turned out to be on this issue.

There would have been some changes made, and I personally think there need to be some changes made..... but I do not think we would be facing a AWB, hi cap mag ban, ownership ban and all of the other crap that is flying our way right now.

What needs to happen is finding ways to keep the weapons out of the hands of people that are apt to do the mass shootings, not punishing 100 million gun owners that have done no wrong.

FWIW, I am an Independent and actually lean towards the liberal side on issues such as abortion, EXCEPT when it comes to our 2A rights, which has me leaning as far to the right as I can lean.
