An ammunition shortage is still making it hard to get some of the most popular bullets.

Now, state lawmakers are taking action questioning stores like Walmart to see why there's still such a low supply of certain bullets.

FOX23 stopped by the Academy near 41st and Sheridan and found customers are restricted to buying only two boxes of 9mm or .20 caliber bullets at a time.

Troubled by the shortage, State Rep. Mike Ritze from Broken Arrow wrote a letter to both box stores trying to find out what they believe is the source of the problem.

Ritze said once he gets a response from Walmart and Academy he will see where he needs to go from there and who to contact. Then he may take legislative action.

Y'know what'd be cool? If our legiscritters would read the news instead of harassing private businesses. Bonus points if they read for comprehension.

I hope the stores tell him to gargle their collective balls.

Mike Ritze is a regular customer of BANG, and my wifes Doctor.

He is a good guy for the Oklahoma 2A, and has done nothing except push for more gun rights in Oklahoma.

Keep up the good work Doc.

Agreed and he brought about 2000 babies into this world, however this is silly.

If it means I might be able to buy 22 off the shelf again, without having to camp out in front of Academy or Walmart and wait in line with all the flippers. I'm all for it.

Ritze should call Dong's and find out how they are able to keep ammo on the shelf when everybody else is out. I suspect there is more to it than just the outrageously high prices they charge.

In light of the fact that the Second Amendment's main intent is to make sure that Americans are able to defend themselves and country, it might be worth looking into as to why there is difficulty for Americans to be able to obtain ammo.

Doesn't affect me, as I handload, but it certainly affects others.

I don't really think this guy could do anything to get more ammo on the shelves. It is supply and demand. And the demand is high. That is why there isn't much on the shelves. Its a no brainer. But I wish there was something someone could do. One thing I have noticed the last couple of times I have been in Walmart in Shawnee is that there has been more and more ammo. They even had some 9mm Federal Hydra shoks the other day. And they had some Winchester pdx1 .380. But the thing I couldn't believe they had was the 250 rounds packs of Remington UMC for .40. I haven't seen any of that anywhere for about a year. Hopefully it will get back down to normal soon. It kills me, on the internet some places prices are so high. And when you can find it in store like walmart it is the same it was a year ago before all the madness. All the internet does is mark it up.

I'm no expert, but it seems to me, the only thing causing this ammo shortage is the Government constantly scaring the chit out of people. First it was the election of a gun grabbing President. When that settled down, ammo became abundant. Then talk of a ban on mag limits as well as making people buy a permit to buy ammo and restrict the amount they can buy. Now when it is slowly starting to come back on the shelves, the dip chits release news that Kerry is signing a U.N resolution to try and have the world control our ammo and guns. I figure this crap will continue until they get what they want, or we are able to get true conservative control of both the House and the Senate.
