First thing I have to do on Dan Wessons is lose the factory trigger so I can tighten up the pre-travelAbsolutely Dan Wesson is the best production 1911 short of the semi custom Brown's, Baers, Wilson's and NHC's : )

Wilson and NH have gone full retard on their pricing IMO. Baer is still pricey but I dare someone to shoot the life out of one. DW builds some of the best bang for the buck 1911s I've ever seen. I say this gingerly.... what do the others have that they do not?
Interesting, all 7 of my DW's have outstanding triggers.First thing I have to do on Dan Wessons is lose the factory trigger so I can tighten up the pre-travel
I can't have free travel before the trigger hits the sear beyond just the minimum needed for reset. If I do it messes me up on hammers and I out run the trigger. Very embarrassing on timed drills.Interesting, all 7 of my DW's have outstanding triggers.
That's a nice Nighthawk. I've never shot one. The Baers are known for there ridiculously tight build but they run like a raped ape. P.S. Beautiful Colt Gunsite too!I have Colt Custom Shop, Dan Wesson and Nighthawk 1911 platforms the Nighthawk is like a bank vault on the tolerances. The Colts run from the get go and The Dan Wessons just need a little work to fit my ergos
Cause you’re a trigger slapper (not saying it’s a bad thing)I can't have free travel before the trigger hits the sear beyond just the minimum needed for reset. If I do it messes me up on hammers and I out run the trigger. Very embarrassing on timed drills.
For me the hard fitting/hand fitting of the Les Baer. There is something very special about them. It is a totally different build philosophy and one that I appreciate. Also, some of the DW's are approaching Les Baer pricing. This makes it much more appealing to go Baer.
I dunno about the pricing comment. I used to think that as well. Last Baer I looked at was a Kenai. $3200? Ouch. Might as well go full custom.
