Not a Navy vet, but Army. My dad and another member of this forum both of us had fathers who were in the SeaBees, in the South Pacific in WWII. Now the the CB's were civilian until WWII began, but the other member and I are trying to find what outfit his dad was in. My Dad was in the 76th or 77th Battalion in WWII. Do you or any of you have any idea to or how to find the rosters of either unit. I have lost my dad's book which listed all of his battalion. Any thing you kids can help me with I would appreciate, and I have tried most internet sources.

I became a Blue Nose while in HS-9.

While in the two HS squadrons, I was deployed on several cruises on the Wasp and the Essex(of WW II Vintage!), in the North Atlantic and Med, on the Navy's flight training carrier(the Lexington, also of WW II Vintage!) in the Gulf of Mexico, and finally on the Forestall.

Many times I have wished I stayed for the full 20.

Secret bunker in an undisclosed location.
ET1(SS) Gave 'em 12 years.

Boot camp at Orlando in 1980 followed by BE&E (Basic Electricity ad electronics)
1981 Pensacola FL for A school (Sub ESM types went to EW A school at Corry station in those days)
1981 Basic subschool at rotten Groton CT.
C school in Pearl Harbor, ESM, RADAR, Periscope, IFF.
Got to Sand Diego and my first boat the first part of November 1981, USS Haddo (SSN-604) (fast attack boat).
Took the Haddo thrugh the yards at Mare Island Naval Shipyards at Vallejo Ca. After the yards it was back to SD. Made one Westpac deployment before I left in '85. I made E-6 Summer of '85.
November '85 saw me back in Groton for a new C school followed by almost 4 years of instructor duty.
1992 I reported aboard the USS Flying Fish at Norfolk Va. Made 2 deployment while serving on the 'fish, 6 months in the Med and a little over 3 months on a "Northern run". And of course, numerous weekly ops and NATO ops.
From Sept '89 when I reported aboard till I got out in 'July '92 the Flying fish was in home port just under 9 months total.
Got tired of watching my kids grow up in chunks and after the draw down of the boomer fleet I went from a rating that was less than 80% manned to a rating that was some where around 125% manned. Shore billets and advancements were a tight commodity.
I've been to some interesting places and done things only a relatively small group of people can claim. I wouldn't have missed it for the word but you couldn't get me back for all the tea in China.
